K. M. Seethi Sahib was born in 1899 in Kodungallur, Cochin state. He was a prominent figure in the Indian independence movement and a successful lawyer. He was elected to the Cochin Council twice as a Congress member and attended the 1930 Lahore Congress. He later joined the Indian Union Muslim League and served as its Secretary during the 1957 General Elections. He was elected as the Speaker of the Kerala Assembly in 1960 but died while in office in 1961. He was described as "the leading Mappila intellectual of the generation" by historian Robin Jeffrey.

Seethi Sahib recognized that education was crucial for the upliftment of people in Malabar, and he believed that technical education would be key to their development. Despite the challenges of the time, he obtained government permission to start a polytechnic and worked hard to develop the required infrastructure. Though he passed away before the official inauguration of the polytechnic in 1962, his dream project was named after him, the SEETHI SAHIB MEMORIAL POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE. Additionally, he was a founding member of the Farook College at Calicut.
